Sammlung+ · collection software for museums & public institutions
From data curation to an experience website.
Sammlung+ curates your objects in a LIDO-compliant way — and turns selected parts into an accessible, living online collection at the click of a button. Two worlds, one system.
What it's about
Curating collection data is one thing. Making it an experience is another.
Data locked in the source system
Curated, but publicly invisible — or only as a plain list.
Accessibility is mandatory
BITV/EU require accessible offerings — the capacity and know-how are missing.
Websites go stale
Every special exhibition turns into an IT project.
Sammlung+ closes this gap — from curation to publication.
Two worlds, one system
Editing and public website — cleanly separated, closely interlocked.

Curation platform
The editorial team curates objects, levels and albums — standard-compliant and role-based.

Public experience website
Selected content goes online via a token-secured API — in the institution's corporate design. You choose what becomes public and how it appears.
01 — The curation platform
Curate the collection in one place.
Objects — LIDO-compliant
All objects managed to standard: title, dating, material, dimensions, media, status. Data usually comes in via import from the source system; quick search and advanced field search are built in.
- Compatible with museum standards
- No data silo

Albums — curated selections
Assembled from levels and individual objects, with a choice of layout (grid, gallery, story, timeline) and order — a new online presentation without an IT project.

Import & mapping
Connect external object databases (e.g. Daphne, Axiell): map source fields to LIDO target fields, sync throttled and incrementally — every run is logged.
- Your existing curation stays, Sammlung+ follows suit

Levels
An arbitrarily deep hierarchy — one click controls the visibility of entire holdings.

Dashboard
The state of the collection at a glance — objects, albums, active content, open tasks.

AI image description
Comprehensible object texts via AI — drafts go into curator review, not straight online.
02 — The public experience website
The object list becomes an experience.
Modules you switch on per album or object — in the institution's corporate design, connected via the public API.

Story album
A narrative entry point: cover image and editorial text above the objects.

Semantic network
Objects as a network of relationships across material, genre, era and person.

Sunburst chart
The composition of the collection; a click on a segment opens the objects.

Object puzzle
Looking closely as a game — especially for families and younger audiences.

Colour keyboard
Sort by image colour — a language-free access that works across language barriers.

Provenance map
Objects as points on a map — the local connection resonates most.

Time slider
Drag a time window across the eras and filter the works shown.

Search & filter
Full-text search with facets (object type, creator …) across the released holdings.

Object detail
Single view with IIIF deep zoom, metadata and sharing — plus optional modules.

3D view
A toggle between photo and an explorable 3D model — visitors rotate the object freely. The model is built from the existing object images; enabled per object.
03 — AI extensions
Artificial intelligence that makes collections accessible.
AI avatar — talk to an object
Visitors ask a collection object questions and get answers as if the person or the work itself were facing them — as text or with real speech output. A collection to look things up in becomes a conversation.
- Answers from uploaded PDF/Word documents and object data — nothing made up
- Character & voice controllable via meta-documents
- Enabled per object; choice of OpenAI (ChatGPT) or Anthropic (Claude); limits & kill switch
AI search — search in your own words
Visitors simply describe an object in words — image content, motif or mood (“melancholic winter scene”) — and the AI finds the most similar works (semantic search via embeddings). On the object page it also shows three further matching objects.
- Its own menu item, visible only when enabled (whole collection or per album)
- Access without expert vocabulary — visitors find what they mean

Foundation
Built for demanding, public collections.
Accessible (WCAG 2.2 AA)
The public output is fully keyboard-operable, high-contrast, motion-reducible, with meaningful alt texts.
Multi-tenant & data-secure
Separate databases per institution (database-per-tenant), encrypted credentials — GDPR-friendly.
Open, token-secured API
The modules can also be integrated into TYPO3 or WordPress — no isolated solution.
Roles, permissions & release: Administrator · Curator · Editor with fine-grained rights; content goes through a release step before it becomes public.
For whom
For institutions that want to open up their collection.
Museums & collections
Art, culture, nature, technology, city and local history museums.
Public institutions & authorities
With a collection/holdings mandate — accessibility is mandatory.
Archives & exhibition venues
Make structured holdings accessible; curated online companion without an IT project.
