The project.

The Institute for the Cultural Analysis of Germans in Eastern Europe (IKDE) and the Institute for Danube Swabian History and Regional Studies (IdGL) are non-university research institutions directly subordinate to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior. The IKDE is dedicated to researching and communicating the everyday and popular culture of Germans from Eastern Europe, while the IdGL examines historical, regional and linguistic aspects of the Danube Swabian regions of origin. The website relaunch for both institutes was implemented with the TYPO3 content management system.

New corporate design for the State of Baden-Württemberg

In October 2024, the State of Baden-Württemberg published a new corporate design. The full rollout is planned by the end of 2025. As part of the website relaunch, eyeworkers migrated the institutes' content into the new design. The result is a modern web presence that clearly signals the affiliation with the Ministry of the Interior while, at the same time, preserving the institutes' individual character through custom-designed modules in the style of the new corporate design.

Digital foyer

The Digital Foyer is one such custom-designed module, modeled on the institute's physical foyer. Just as individual display cases in the building's entrance area offer insights into the institute's work, the Digital Foyer presents selected content to visitors of the website. For this purpose, an image-text module in the Baden-Württemberg corporate design was developed to communicate content vividly and accessibly.

Hosting with Kubernetes

The websites are hosted on existing infrastructure of the State of Baden-Württemberg, using a Kubernetes system operated by BITBW. Kubernetes is open-source software, originally developed by Google, for orchestrating and managing containerized applications. This solution enables scalable, fail-safe, standards-compliant operation in line with the state's IT requirements.
