TYPO3 website and logo design

Deutsches Jugendinstitut – TYPO3 website reference project by eyeworkers GmbH

The project.

Deutsches Jugendinstitut commissioned us to redesign its TYPO3 website and to develop a logo for the Zentrum für Forschung zu sexueller Gewalt an Kindern und Jugendlichen (ZEFSG), the Centre for Research on Child Sexual Abuse.

ZEFSG conducts research on behalf of the Unabhängiger Bundesbeauftragter gegen sexuellen Missbrauch von Kindern und Jugendlichen (UBSKM), the Independent Federal Commissioner for Child Sexual Abuse Issues. The research goal is to gain a realistic picture of how children and young people experience violence and neglect in Germany. To this end, ZEFSG regularly conducts surveys in schools. The survey results serve as a basis for developing protective measures and political decisions.

Design

A clear, understated design was developed for the ZEFSG website that puts the content centre stage while also providing a professional setting for the sensitive subject matter.

Technically, the website was implemented with the content management system TYPO3. The navigation is clearly structured. A dedicated menu item for the SAFE study, ZEFSG's central research project, makes its relevance apparent at a glance and gives easy access to its results.

Logo development

The logo combines two central aspects of ZEFSG's work:

The stylised depiction of a bar chart symbolises empirical research. The surrounding speech bubble refers to communicating the experiences of children and young people in Germany.

The reduced design ensures a clear, professional appearance and provides good recognisability across all digital and print media.
